Protocols and Standard Operating Procedures

Protocols

  1. Never double-dip a cleaning cloth; a new cloth is used for each item.

  2. Only use hydrogen peroxide-based products, adhering to the prescribed dwell times.

  3. Employ a top-down cleaning method, moving from the cleanest area to the dirtiest.

  4. Change to a fresh pair of gloves each time a cleaning cloth is replaced.

  5. Use hydrogen peroxide-based wipes on sensitive equipment, such as keyboards, mice, telephones, and other high-touch electronics.

  6. Use microfiber flat mops that are changed frequently and never double-dipped.

  7. Dedicate cleaning cloths and flat mops to each customer. They are washed and sanitized separately from other customers' supplies.

  8. Thoroughly clean and sanitize all high-touch surfaces and their surrounding areas, such as a door handle and the parts of the door and frame that are also often touched.

  9. All staff are trained and knowledgeable in the cleaning products they use and the protocols for their proper use.

Explanation of Protocols

  1. Double-Dipping: This practice involves using the same cleaning cloth for multiple surfaces and dipping it back into a bucket of cleaning solution. This weakens the cleaning solution and risks cross-contamination. Our staff will never double-dip.

  2. Hydrogen Peroxide-Based Products: We use the same hydrogen peroxide cleaning solutions found in hospitals. These solutions are proven to kill the majority of bacteria and viruses, which helps prevent the spread of illnesses.

  3. Top-Down Cleaning Method: This method ensures that we clean from the least dirty or contaminated area to the dirtiest. This prevents transferring dirt, viruses, or bacteria from a dirty area to a cleaner one.

  4. Fresh Gloves: We change gloves for the same reason we change cleaning cloths: to prevent cross-contamination between different surfaces.

  5. Wipes for Sensitive Equipment: Because cleaning cloths can contain a lot of liquid, even when wrung out, they can damage sensitive equipment. We use wipes that thoroughly clean and sanitize equipment without causing liquid damage.

  6. Microfiber Flat Mops: Microfiber flat mops provide a superior clean. The mop heads are changed frequently—often multiple times for a single room—to avoid cross-contamination, just like we do with cleaning cloths.

  7. Dedicated Cleaning Supplies: All cleaning cloths and flat mops are cleaned, sanitized, and sorted by customer. This ensures that the supplies used in a medical clinic, for example, are never mixed with those from a retail store, completely eliminating the risk of cross-contamination between businesses.

  8. High-Touch and Surrounding Surfaces: High-touch surfaces include door handles, light switches, and handrails. We not only clean and sanitize these areas but also the surfaces surrounding them. For example, a person might push on the edge of a door to close it or hold the door frame while talking. We consider these surrounding areas high-touch and ensure they are thoroughly cleaned.

  9. Staff Training: All of our staff are fully trained in the proper use of cleaning products, including understanding dwell times. They are also trained in all our cleaning methods designed to prevent cross-contamination and the spread of illness.

Our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

At Exteria Brite, we ensure consistent and thorough cleaning by creating a specific Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for every business we service. We never send an employee into a space without a clear plan.

Our SOPs eliminate the possibility of missed areas by providing a detailed, room-by-room guide for our team. Each SOP contains all the critical information needed for that specific location, including which cleaning products to use, required dwell times, and any other pertinent details.

We write each SOP based on information from our clients, incorporating any special requests or specific instructions, such as which pieces of equipment should not be cleaned. This guarantees that all of your needs are met and that our protocols are followed with precision every time.
